• Born and brought up in the town of Thiruvambadi in Mukkam, Athul is the youngest of 3 children.
• His father, Chandran is a small-time real estate broker, while his mother is currently working as a teacher at a local school.
• His elder siblings include a brother and a sister, in 11th and 10th standard, respectively.

Athul is a big-time fan of Spanish giants Real Madrid and he considers Cristiano Ronaldo to be his hero.

• Part of the SEPT team who are currently State Champions in the Subroto Cup and will compete in the National Championships in September.- 
• Strong and agile, Athul plays at the heart of the defence. He was an integral part of the highly successful Thiruvambadi SEPT center, which has won plenty of trophies.
• Athul is one of the 3 kids to be selected from this center to the Elite Center.
• Some of his exploits with the Thiruvambadi team includes winning the Tirur Cup last year, where Athul played every single minute of the tournament and was a key part of the team's winning formula.
• His goal against Kavannur in the tournament was of vital importance for their success.
